As part of our Cost of Living Campaign, Coeliac UK is looking to build a picture of the availability and cost of gluten free products at your local stores. If you are shopping either in-store or online between 2 June and 25 August 2023, we would love you to help us gather information to build our case to make change.

Share your experience of cost and availability of gluten free food

Coeliac UK is looking to build a picture of the availability and cost of gluten free products to help us gather important data to be included in our phase 2 Cost of Living Campaign and need the help of our community!

In our most recent research, we found that gluten free bread costs on average 4.3 times more than gluten containing bread gram for gram and you will pay on average double for gluten free staple substitutes like pasta and flour.

However, we understand that it’s not just cost that poses a barrier to maintaining a gluten free diet. We know it’s often hard to find the gluten free products you are looking for and you may have to go to multiple shops to find what you need. According to Coeliac UK’s Shopping Habits survey from 2022, which was completed by over 6,500 people, 84% of respondents admitted to visiting more than one retailer to complete their gluten free shopping requirements and 90% said they experienced problems with products not being available when they wanted to purchase them.

We have developed surveys that people can use for in-store and online food shopping. Anyone who shops for gluten free food can participate in these surveys.
