Gluten free food on prescription reinstated in Northamptonshire

We have been campaigning to reinstate gluten free food on prescription to people with coeliac disease in Northamptonshire.

In the last few weeks we have heard from many of our community in Northamptonshire reporting issues with accessing gluten free food on prescription. We contacted the local clinical commissioning group and NHS England and found out that the gluten free food service had been withdrawn without any notice for people with coeliac disease.

Our prescriptions campaign has been ongoing and we are pleased to report that, after sharing our concerns about this decision with NHS England, we can announce that the service has been reinstated with immediate effect until 31 March 2021.

Between now and the end of March 2021, there will be a review of this service and when further details of the review are released we will share this with you and will keep you updated with how you can become involved in the review.
