An important Update on the transition to Global Standard Gluten Free Issue 4 from BRCGS.

In a significant development for the gluten free certification landscape, BRCGS (Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standard) has announced a crucial update regarding its certification programme. Effective from 1 August 2024, the current BRCGS Gluten Free Certification Programme (GFCP3) will be replaced by the new Global Standard Gluten Free (GSGF) Issue 4.

This transition marks a strategic partnership between BRCGS and AOECS (Association of European Coeliac Societies), aimed at ensuring the highest standards of gluten free certification. The move to GSGF Issue 4 is driven by a commitment to meeting the auditing requirements of the AOECS Standard for licensing of the Crossed Grain trademark.

We’ve been collaborating closely with BRCGS and AOECS to update the specific requirements, ensuring the utmost confidence in the scheme. The 31 July 2024 will be the last day for audits under this scheme. After this date, the GFCP3 audit option will no longer be available. To facilitate a smooth transition, BRCGS encourages existing applicants to complete their audits before the deadline.

It’s important to highlight that while current applicants under the GFCP3 scheme will have the opportunity to complete their audits, this option will not be extended to new applicants. As such, organisations seeking gluten free certification are advised to familiarise themselves with the upcoming changes and prepare accordingly.
