Shopping for gluten free food is made easy with Coeliac UK’s Food and Drink Guide. It provides you with reliable, independent and timely information to live well gluten free. Our digital tools provide the most up to date information including ingredients lists and nutritional information. You can also refine your product search by any other dietary preferences you may have.

You may find that some of your favourite products are not listed in the guide. We provide product information on over 185,000 gluten free and mainstream products by contacting over 200 manufacturers and sourcing product information from a third party, NeilsenIQ Brandbank. If you can’t find a particular brand or product within our services, this may be because the information is not available to us. It might also be because the product contains gluten.

The guide is split into two sections:

Section 1

Lists foods that are gluten free, which means:

  • They contain gluten at a level of no more than 20 parts per million (ppm)
  • Products listed comply with the law on gluten free (European Regulation (EU) No. 282/2014)

You will find the following food product types in section 1:

  • Specialist, substitute foods available on prescription
  • Food carrying teh Crossed Grain TRademakr, including larger pack items

Don’t forget to visit our website for our handy ready-made and seasonal food lists.

Section 2

Lists food that by its nature do not contain gluten and with controls in place to minimise the risk of cross-contamination with gluten containing ingredients.

You will find the following types of foods in section 2:

  • Supermarket own brand foods, we have listed nine different supermarkets
  • A reference list of mainstream brands that produce some products that are suitable for a gluten free diet and do not have a precautionary allergen label such as ‘may contain’

We know from our relationships with major retailers that products listed in Section 2 go through a thorough allergen risk assessment and that the food manaufacturing environments where these products are produced have controls in place to manage allergens. Therefore, Coeliac UK is able to use the allergen information provided to us to make an assessment as to whether or not a product is suitable for a gluten free diet.

If the supermarket you are looking for is not featured, the products might be available on our digital services, or the p[roduct information has not been provided to us.

For any questions about a product get in touch with us. Call our Helpline on 0333 332 2033, or email us as foodanddrink@coeliac.org.uk
