We continue our work with hospitality and catering partners to make eating out safer for people living with coeliac disease.
Here are some helpful tips from our food experts to help support you when eating out:
- Find a venue using Coeliac UK’s Live Well Gluten Free app or our Venue Guide.
- Call ahead and ask to speak to a manager or a chef to make sure they understand your dietary requirements and the risks of cross-contamination.
- When you arrive explain your dietary restrictions to a member of staff. You can then be sure that your requirements are understood as a health necessity and not a dietary choice.
- Remember to double check cooking methods e.g. fryer, utensils, etc are specifically used for gluten free options.
- Confirm your order before eating and if you’re still in any doubt that the meal is safe, do not eat it.
At all of our venues that carry a Gluten Free Accreditiation you can be reassured that they have been trained to follow the correct procedures. You will not see any disclaimer statements on menus.
